Help: Overview
Operating this website
Overview
The headquarters section of this site has tools for managing this site, as well as information on running campaigns, and access to our volunteer database. This help file has overall information on updating content on this website.
The general process is to navigate to the folder where you want to post something, then from the green menu bar, click the Add Item drop-down menu. Usually you'll be adding a document (a web page), a link (to another website), a photo or a file (like a Word doc or a PDF).
After you add your item and save it, select State from the green menu bar and switch it to publish. This makes it available for other people to read.

Sidebar

The sidebar is the box under the navigation panel. In general, it allows us to highlight a call to action or event, but no usage guidelines have been developed. You change the content by editing the sidebar-item document.
Homepage

This is a combination of our mission, current calls to action, and something of interest. I've been trying to post a picture there. It should be no wider than 600px for this site to display correctly on a 1024 monitor.
Issues
Owner: All volunteers
As we get this section populated, I'm considering the following categories:
- Voting information
- Links to Local media and blogs
- Links to Research sites
- Links to other local town committee or activist groups
- Platform papers and talking points on issues
People
Owner: All volunteers
Info on the office responsibilities, the district covered, the candidates record, finances, contact info. It might be nice to have a "contact your TMRs" form.
Events
Owner: Volunteers (Denis Bradford) events@chelmsfordDTC.org
We're putting all events in a single folder, event-items. In the future, we might end put these into each candidate or issue folder.
We are compiling a list of sources of events info and places to send our news announcements.
News
Owner: Volunteer (Mike Combs)
We're putting all news items in a single folder, news-items. In the future, we might end put these into each candidate or issue folder.
It's our intent to email news items to everyone who signs up for the newsletter. You should post news every month to every week, depending on where you are in the election cycle. News items should be of general interest, like opportunities to meet candidates, countdowns to elections, new issue resources on the website, etc. As a secondary item you might include a pitch for volunteering or contributing.
We are compiling a list of sources of events info and places to send our news announcements.

I'd like to create resources that can be re-used in campaigns. For example, checklists of activities, areas to canvass, statistics about voter turnout, etc.
