Help: Linking to contacts
The preferred way of providing contact information for people
Naming follow up contacts in articles
Lots of events, news and other information posted on this site will refer to a contact person for follow up. Here's the preferred way to do that.
Just put the person's name in the article and link them to "/author/username", like this:
For more information, contact Mike Combs.
Use the "Insert external link" button. When the field pops up, clear out the default "http://" part, and put in the author part. For me, the info is "/author/mcombs".
Making your contact info available
People who are contacts on this site should update their profile to put their phone number and email address into the description field.
If you only put your email address into your profile, but not in the description field, people will be able to email you by filling out a form, but they won't actually get your address.
