Voting in Chelmsford

Registration and voting

Registering to vote

You can do this at town hall (easiest), by mail, or even at the Registry of Motor Vehicles. The deadline is 20 days before primaries and general elections, 10 days before special town elections. For more information, check out How to Register on the Elections Division website.

Changing parties

A lot of people think they're registered as independents, because they aren't a Democrat or a Republican. But in Massachusetts, there's an Independent party. If you're not a member of any party, you're unenrolled (not the same as unregistered).

You can change parties and become a Democrat by mailing a simple form to Town Hall. Or when you vote you can ask to change your party.

Voting

Where you vote in Chelmsford depends on which precinct you are in. You can find out your precinct on the My Election Information page, and you can find out your voting location (and more) on the Chelmsford elections page.

Because Chelmsford is split between four different representatives, we've put them on the list too.
